ALL ABOUT ANDY ESTRELLA

Andy Estrella is a guitarist, performer, and educator from Manila, Philippines. He is a current student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. Influenced by Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Opeth, and Symphony X, he performs music mainly found in the Progressive Metal sphere. With 8 years of teaching experience, he has a rich experience in private lessons with people of all ages and backgrounds. As a student in Berklee, he has studied with Don Lappin, Joe Stump, Shaun Michaud, Jon Finn, Scott Tarulli, Randy Roos, and Tim Miller.

He discovered his love for music at an early age through the record collection of his parents who would play songs for him frequently. Growing up in a musical family, Andy picked up the guitar at the age of 13. Initially receiving informal music lessons from family, he then entered the Yamaha School of Music in Manila 2 years later. After spending 6 years learning and practicing in the school, he found a passion for teaching because of his experiences with his instructors. From 2013, he started teaching guitar and theory privately to satisfy the yearning to share the learning experience he had with his professors at the Yamaha School of Music.

In 2018, he got a chance to audition for Berklee College of Music, a school that he has always wanted to study in since his teenage years in order to follow in the footsteps of his heroes. He since moved to Boston to begin studying at the College in the spring of 2020. While in Berklee, he continues to deepen his knowledge of guitar technique and music theory. Being in the school has afforded him the opportunity to work with amazing musicians from all over the world which led him to form the bands Emergent and Lacedaemon with his fellow students. As the main songwriter, he pours his influence and skills in the band to produce his own brand of heavy progressive music. Ever the passionate student, Andy Estrella continues to seek knowledge and growth through leveraging the tools that he gains from Berklee and finding opportunities to work with outstanding international musicians.
